July 22, 2009 -- ANADIGICS, Inc. launched a new high power, dual-band front end integrated circuit (FEIC).It is designed to meet the growing demand for WiFi capability in size-constrained mobile electronics. The AWL9966 is a highly integrated device that provides all the RF amplifiers and switches required for a compact, high-performance WiFi front end, complete with an integrated Bluetooth path in one small 4 x 4 x 0.6 mm package . Glenn Eswein, the Director of Product Marketing for ANADIGICS said that “The groundbreaking performance of the AWL9966 will give the user an unprecedented WiFi experience, which in turn will reinforce the growing demand for WiFi in handsets,”
Features of AWL9966:
* 18 dBm of linear output power for 802.11a at 3% EVM with 160 mA total current
* 20 dBm of linear output power for 802.11g at 3% EVM with 190 mA total current
* 31 dB of linear power gain at 2.4GHz and 5GHz
* 2.6 dB total noise figure at 2.4GHz with 12 dB gain
* 3.0 dB total noise figure at 5.5GHz with 14 dB gain
* Ultra-low insertion loss of 0.8 dB in the Bluetooth Tx/Rx path
Accelerated development on Android by Motorola
July 27, Motorola, Inc. announced the launch of advanced Android development resources through MOTODEV. It also includes a new App Accelerator Program and MOTODEV Studio for Android Beta. MOTODEV will offer developers early access to a new suite of Google Android developer tools and programs, along with the opportunity to attend the next MOTODEV Summit in San Diego, CA, on October 6, for advanced training and information gathering. The program is intended to accelerate the development of applications to be used on Motorola's mobile devices using the Android operating system scheduled to ship later this year.
